Gene Woods

Gene Woods, 70, died at 5:00pm Friday, June 23, 2017, at his residence following an extended illness.   He was born July 24, 1946, in Chillicothe to the late Dale and Alice (Johnson) Woods. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Nancy Jean; and a brother Robert Woods.   Gene is survived by sons Melvin Eugene Powell, of Florida; Billy McCabe, of California; step-children Larry Coeppel, Coshocton; Mary Ali and Sarah Bryant; brother and sister-in-law Frank (Dawn) Woods; sisters and brother-in-law Sandy (Cliff) Kinnison, Elaine Brown; and a sister-in-law Mickie Woods, all of Chillicothe; his aunt Jenny Horner; and 3 dear friends: Jean Strickland, Ben Abbott and George Baker. The family would also like to acknowledge his hospice nurse, Jessi Shackhardt, for her excellent care.   Gene retired from MPW, a subcontractor for Kenworth. In recent years, he enjoyed panning for gold.   At his request, cremation services will be handled under the direction of Haller Funeral Home & Crematory. Formal services will not be observed.
