Gene Wilson "Hoot" Wisecup 95 of Chillicothe went into the arms of Jesus on November 10th, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.
Gene was born in Ross County on April 24, 1928, the son of John and Nellie (Hurless) Wisecup. On September 9, 1950, he married the love of his life Patty (Shoemaker) Wisecup. God gave him to her and her to him for 73 years.
Gene worked at Mead Research where he was known as "Mr. Mushroom" retiring in June 1990 after 42 years. He loved the Lord and being a member of the Churches of Christ in the Christian Union. Gene and Patty have had a profound impact on so many people, young and old, through their faith. Because of this faith, we know we will see him again in Heaven.
Gene could be found on the sidelines at PV football games wearing his football-shaped hat. He loved supporting his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in all of their birthdays, graduations, and activities. He was always making us laugh with his jokes and reciting the alphabet backwards which he learned in 2nd grade at Buckskin Academy in South Salem where he attended school. He sure loved a good game of Farkle with friends and family. We were blessed to have the best husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will miss him every day until we see him again.
Gene is survived by his forever sweetheart wife Patty and His loving children Diane (James) Locke, Douglas (Rhonda) Wisecup, and Timothy (Tammy) Wisecup all of Chillicothe. He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren, Stephanie (Tony) Thompson, Heather (Aaron Clark) White, Jonathan (Renee') Wisecup, Timothy L. Wisecup, Benjamin (Corinne) Wisecup, and Taryn (Chris) Wisecup; 13 great-grandchildren Joshua, Kaitlyn, Bethany, Andrew, Livia, Grace, Halle, Regan, Jackson, Ruby, Sterling, Wyatt and Sabrina. Gene is also survived by his special sister-in-law Wanda Caplinger. The Wisecup family would like to thank Adena Hospice for their care and compassion during these last weeks. Gene was preceded in Heaven by his parents, siblings, and infant granddaughter Carissa Wisecup.
