Gene Stotridge, 82, of Chillicothe, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 5, 2021 after an extended illness.
Gene was born December 18, 1938, to Clyde and Pluma Gillman Stotridge. On June 11, 1960, he married the love of his life, Lorraine Cochenour Stotridge, who survives. Also surviving are Gene's loving family, all of Chillicothe, daughter and son-in-law, Trent and Shelley Baker and two grandchildren, Lorrie Baker and Bryson (Linzey) Baker; and a great-grandson, Nolan Belcher. His grandchildren, and little Nolan were his pride and joy, and no other could bring a smile to his face quicker than them. He loved spending time with his family and taking us all on annual vacations to North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He is also survived by a brother, Richard (Pat) Stotridge and a twin sister, June (Jim) Claytor, and a special brother-in-law, Norman Detty who visited him often. He was predeceased by many brothers and sisters.
Gene enjoyed fishing, visiting family and friends and attending church. His favorite hobby was gardening. He loved planting and growing his garden and did it every year while he was able. He always had more than enough for us, other relatives, friends and neighbors.
Gene worked for US Shoe Company in Chillicothe, Ohio and Georgia Pacific in Circleville, Ohio which he retired from. He was a very hard-working man.
A special thank you goes out to Pam Daniels, Susan Wale, Mistee Lemaster, Christina, Maria, and all others with Heartland Hospice who helped care for him and also cared for his family during the last hours. We can't thank you enough!
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Thursday at Lighthouse Baptist Church, Pastors Ryan Bevan and Bruce Viar officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call 12- 2 pm prior to the service at the church. MASKS ARE REQUIRED AND SOCIAL DISTANCING WILL BE IN PRACTICE.
