Gene E. Adams Gene Edward Adams, 66, of Chillicothe, died July 11, 2007, in his home, unexpectedly. Military graveside funeral services, conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard, will be held 10:00 am Friday in Soldier's Square, Greenlawn Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 am in the First Baptist Church, Rev. Robert Hitchens Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the memorial service. He was born May 22, 1941 in Chillicothe to Ira Eugene and Esta Mae Cooper Adams. Survivors include his daughter, Jean Adams, of Tampa, FL; two sons, Edward Eugene Adams, of Delaware and David Anderson, of Florida; two grandchildren, Ari Edward Adams and Evanjelina M. Adams; a step-child and her family, Beartrice Barnes; a sister, Shirley Hitchens, of Chillicothe; his former wife and mother of his children, Beatrice Adams; several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews; as well as many special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a step-son, Lawrence Barnes. Mr. Adams worked as a building materials manager for years and managed "The Lake" just of Eastern Ave. He was a founding member of the Prevaricators Bass Club. Some of the last words he spoke were: he asked all not to grieve his passing, but to celebrate his having been.
