Gayle Holbrook

Gayle Marlene Holbrook, 74, of Chillicothe, formerly of Amanda, OH, was lifted from her courageous battle into the loving arms of the Lord at 12:58 pm, February 17, 2010. She was born January 18, 1936 in Columbus, OH to Cecil P. and Barbara R. Schaeffer Roshon. On April 3, 1956 she married her soul mate and beloved husband Hobart D. Holbrook, formerly of Circleville, who survives. Theresa Jo Holbrook, her loving daughter, formerly of Chillicothe, resides in Waverly, OH. Also in Waverly, is Theresa's fiancée, Randall L. Roe and his two children, Tara D. Roe and Trevor M. Roe, whom Gayle adored. Her unconditional love and exceptional strength touched the lives of her beautiful brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces; and nephews; including Olive J. Houghland, two cousins who were as close as sisters, Norma Handley and Paula (Roger) Powers and their daughter, Stacy R. (Lyman) Brown; and Stefanie N. Powers and their children, Sydney and Zachary Brown and Caleigh Clark who knew her as their "Mamma Jimmy." She shared her many talents and gifts of love with many dear friends who will miss her deeply including Patti Hines, whom she called "daughter number 2" and lifelong friends, Peggy Colby and Margaret Goodwin. Tacy, Sissy, Pumpkin, and Herby were also so close to her heart. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Donald Roshon. With all the illness she went through, she was determined to keep a positive view. Take time to reflect and remember to pray; but please shed no tears, she would not want it that way. She's our angel and hero. She fought hard to the end, but God called her home now, to have a future with Him. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Monday at the Haller Funeral Home, with her nephew, Rev. Michael Holbrook officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call 1-3 pm Sunday at Haller's.
