Gayle Roberta Detillion, 82, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on October 12, 2018, at her residence surrounded by her loving children. She was born February 25, 1936, in Friendship, OH, to the late Robert and Ada Phyllis (Schwamberger) Shaw. Surviving are her children: Phyllis (Rick) Uhrig, Joyce (John) Baer, Lisa Gayle (Fred) Burke, Tony Davis (Janie Powell), and Suzanne (Shawn) Gray, all of Chillicothe; grandchildren: Tyler (Angie) Uhrig, Derrick Uhrig, Joseph Beardsley, Bethany Beardsley (Jordan Detty), Heather Cottrill, Trent Bee, Jessica Sikes, Barry (Jessica) Walls, Brady Burke, Ashton Gayle (Forrest) Bowling, Chelsey (Michael) Hitchens, Abbie Gayle (Brenan) Dove, Freddie Burke, Haley Gray, Cassidy Gray, Tony Davis and Alaska Lynn Gayle Davis; great-grandchildren: Bailey Uhrig, Karlee and Harlan Uhrig, Ryan, Gabriel, Ariana and Olivia Beardsley, Asa and Asher Detty, Natallie Gayle Hamilton, James McGraw, Annabella Gayle Walls, Lydia Gayle Stanley, Adrianna and Tyson Hitchens, Khamron Davis, Kyliyah Davis, Kadin Walls and Kynlee Gayle Walls; sisters Nellie Book, Chillicothe; and Janet Parker, Portsmouth; sister-in-law Patricia Westbrook, of Chillicothe; and special, loyal friend and caregiver Lora Hughes, Chillicothe. Gayle was the owner & operator of the Detillion Group Home caring for disabled veterans for 33 years, with her children working beside her the whole way. In 2012, Gayle retired and her daughter Lisa Gayle continues the tradition of care in the home located in Slate Mills. She was a pioneer to the caregiver industry and cared for her veterans as if they were family. She was a member of the Adena Road Church of Christ. The family would like to give special thanks to Gayle's baby daughter, Suzanne, as well as Heartland Hospice caregivers, especially: Laurel, Maria, Kaye and Faye, for their exceptional care. A Celebration of Life will be held at 5pm Thursday, October 18, at the Adena Road Church of Christ, 900 Orange St., Chillicothe, with Evangelist Seth Tinkler, Pastor Rick Hartley and Pastor David Marhoover officiating. There will be a meal served immediately following the service at the church. Family and friends are welcome to attend either or both. Burial will be held at Friendship Cemetery at the convenience of the family under the direction of Haller Funeral Home & Crematory.
