Gayle (Barbee) Catron, 87 of Chillicothe, passed away peacefully Friday evening, November 11, 2022 in her home accompanied by her family, following complications from a heart condition.
She was born September 10, 1935, in Fleming County, Kentucky, daughter of the late Roy and Gladys (Linville) Barbee. On September 10, 1953, she married William Bealer Catron, and together they shared over 50 years of marriage before his passing on March 24, 2005.
Surviving is her son, Brad (Cherie) Catron and son-in-law, Keith Jones; brother, James (Marion) Barbee; grandchildren: Kevin (Ana) Jones, Matthew (Jaimie) Jones, Gabriel (Brianna) Catron, Evan (fiancé, Kateland) Catron, and David Masters; great grandchildren: Evan Coker, Alexander Jones, Isaac Jones, Grace Jones, Emma Catron, and Evett Jones; nephews: Michael (Peggy) Catron, Ralph Hendersen, and niece, Marie Henderson.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Ingrid Lynn Jones.
Gayle was a graduate of Mayslick High School, class of 1953. She was the co-owner and office manager of Lang's Dry Cleaners in Chillicothe for 35 years until 1998 when she retired. She was a long-time member of Walnut St. United Methodist Church in Chillicothe.
Gayle lived by the simple principles of kindness and honesty. She put the needs of others far ahead of her own. She loved her family and took great joy in spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed staying connected with friends, cousins and her high school classmates.
She volunteered in any way she could whether it was reading with children at Tiffin Towers or going on mission trips to Red Bud, Kentucky or Kenya, East Africa. Gayle delighted in helping others, especially if it involved making some good, home-cooked food.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on the Monday of November 21, 2022 at Haller Funeral Home with Pastor Aaron Hines officiating. Friends may join the family for visitation from 11:00am until the time of service. Burial at Washington Baptist Cemetery in Washington, KY will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at 11:00am.
