Gary Lynn Free

Gary Lynn Free, 74, of Chillicothe, died at 5:00am, Friday, June 12, 2026, at Bristol Village, Waverly, following an extended illness.

He was born September 15, 1951, in Chillicothe to the late Dane R. and Jesse E. (Hixson) Free. On March 16, 1991, he married the former Kay E. (Conard) McCormick, who survives.

Also surviving are his stepsons: Matthew (Sara) McCormick, of Michigan; and Andrew McCormick, of Seattle, WA; step-grandkids: Jade, Quinn, Evelyn and Malachi McCormick; his aunt Eleanor Hixson; special cousin Susan Hixson; and numerous friends including: Robert Strawser, Ralph and Linda Metzger, Jim and Debbie Doersam, Richard and Sherry Ward, Terressa Reep, Paulette Cunningham and all the members of the “Posse.”

Lynn was a graduate of Chillicothe High School and Georgia Tech earning his bachelor’s degree in engineering. He was a part-owner in First Capital Printing and later became the owner/operator of Mile Tree Screenprint. He was an accomplished athlete who loved playing baseball, softball, bowling and golf.

At his request, cremation services are being handled at Haller Funeral Home & Crematory. A Celebration of Life with family and friends will be held from 1-3pm August 9, at the Chillicothe Country Club.
