Gary Edward Brenning, 79, of Chillicothe, passed away early Thursday morning, August 10, 2023 at the Vineyards at Concord, following an extended illness.
He was born March 14, 1944 in New Albany, Ohio, son of the late Chester John and Elsie Mae Brenning. On May 30, 2007, he married his beloved wife Ann (Hixon) Brenning who survives.
Also surviving are children, Robert (Laurie) Brenning, Ryan (Julie) Brenning, and Katherine McDonald; step-children, Craig (Kim) Fry, and Mitzi (Ron) Green; step-grandchildren, Hunter Fry, Heather Fry, Emma Green, and Lance Green; sisters-in-law, Sylvia Brenning, Carolyn Brenning, and Beth Hixon; and a brother-in-law, Paul Hixon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dale Brenning and Jack Brenning; and a sister-in-law, Carol Hixon.
Gary owned and operated Max Fulks Insurance Agency in Chillicothe for many years before selling to Hummel and Plum. He remained on staff as an Insurance Broker until he retired in 2009 after being in the industry for more than 40 years. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time on the golf course, taking walks around town, and spending time with his beloved dogs.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation services are being performed. A celebration of life service will be held at 5:00pm on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at the Haller Funeral Home with Pastor Aaron Hines officiating. Friends may join the family for visitation from 4:00pm until the time of the service.
In his honor, memorial contributions can be made to the Ross County Humane Society.
