Garland R. "Buzz" Ison, 61, of Ray, went home to be with the Lord Friday, September 17, 2010 after a brave fight with cancer, at the Adena Regional Medical Center. He was born August 18, 1949 in Ross Co. to Clarence and Ada Speakman Ison. In addition to his loving wife of 36 years, Saundra Sue Walsh Ison, of Ray and his mother, he is survived by a son, Jonathan (Tina) Ison, of Ray; a daughter, Mandi Coleman, of Chillicothe; two precious granddaughters: Olivia and Meranda Coleman; five precious step-grandchildren; six precious step great grandsons; a sister, Rebecca Booth, of Alva, FL; a brother and sister-in-law Jerry and Ann Walsh, of Londonderry; a sister-in-law, Joyce Walsh, of Spanaway, WA; four nieces, Lynn Davey, Lori Burger, Julie (Bill) Hoylt, and Debra (Mark) Meade; four nephews, Jimmy Booth, Jerry, David, and Richard Walsh; several great nieces and nephews; two aunts, Goldie Black and Clara Francis; and an uncle, Lawrence (Francis) Speakman. He was preceded in death by his father; his mother and father-in-law, Jerry and Emma Walsh; a nephew, Adam Booth and a brother-in-law, Bill Walsh. Garland served in the US Navy four years as an instrument technician. He was a member of the Scioto Valley Honor Guard. He was employed at Goodyear Atomic for 25 years. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday at the Goshen Run Church, Pastor Jeremy Hatfield officiating. Military graveside services, conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard and the Scioto Valley Honor Guard, will follow in Londonderry Cemetery. Friends may call 5-8 pm Tuesday at the Haller Funeral Home.
