Gail Ann Cruse passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025. She was 75 years old. Mrs. Cruse
was born in the hills of Chillicothe, Ohio on June 26, 1949 to Ernest and Betty (White) Evans
Sr., and she knew two great loves in her life: her hometown and the family that she started and
raised there. Gail spent more than 55 years in unconditional love with her husband Don, with
whom she had two sons — Edgar and Nicholas (Don & Nick, respectively). While Mrs. Cruse
was an active and central member of her home, she was also a provider outside the family
walls.
Professionally, Gail held positions at multiple hometown establishments, where she prided
herself on serving the community she held so dear. Gail was a small business owner, and her
passion for learning and for children was expressed through her work as a teacher's aide
(Union-Scioto School District). Gail wasn't a hard person to please; If she was playing cards,
watching her Buckeyes play on Saturdays, or listening to just about any jukebox, she was
happy.
Gail is survived by her beloved partner and husband Don Cruse; her sons — whom she adored
more than life itself — Don (Christy) Cruse and Nick Cruse; her cherished grandchildren Alex,
Owen, Parker McClure, and Donald Cruse; her siblings Linda Fout and Rick Evans; and a
practically-endless group of friends and strangers whose lives she touched and brightened. She
is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Ernest (Ernie) Evans.
A private family service will be held for Gail, after which, she'll be laid to rest in St. Margaret
Cemetery: She will spend eternity in the hometown she loved. Her family asks for privacy and
prayer during this difficult time, and it is their sincere wish that — in Gail's honor — all those
reading this will remember to do something kind for their fellow human beings.
