Freda Lenora (Chaney) Sager, 79, of Huntington Township, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2025, at her home. She was born November 28, 1945, to the late George and Mabel (Kellough) Chaney.
Freda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and caretaker. She worked for many years at Hills Department Store and later at Reynolds Aluminum (ALSCO) in Ashville, Ohio, where she retired in 2008. After retirement, Freda found a second calling as an in-home caregiver for the elderly, offering the same compassion and dedication she gave to her own family. Her life was marked by hard work, kindness, and a deep love for those around her.
She found joy in gardening, crocheting, traveling, and—above all—spending time with her beloved "doggy daughter," Roxy.
Freda was also a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), honoring her family's legacy of service and patriotism.
Freda is survived by her loving daughter, Stephanie Christman, and her husband, Fearl Christman; granddaughters Chelsea Buffkin and her husband, Chad Buffkin, and Jalynn Jenkins; grandsons Ryan Tyo and Jordan Jenkins; and great-grandchildren Everett and Gavin Buffkin. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Ruth Chaney.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Kathy Corkwell; her brothers, Dale, Orwin, and Victor Chaney; and her granddaughter, Ceara Ford.
Freda will be remembered for her generous heart, unwavering strength, and the love she gave so freely to all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at the Haller Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Hartley officiating. Visitation will directly follow until 5:00pm for family and friends.
