Fred D . Weaver , 83, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 11 , 2025.

Fred was born in his home in New Lebanon , Ohio on April 25 , 1942 , to his parents , Harvey L. and Gillie ( Overfelt) Weaver. In 1965 , he married his high school sweetheart , Muriel McKibben. They had four children : Meva (Charles) Kennedy , Kelly Weaver - Puffer , Christopher Ryan Weaver , and Miss y (Corey) Flemming , plus hosting three foreign exchange students: Javier Garcia , Cordoba , Spain - Luis Crespo , Puebla, Mexico ; and Ma y u Moro , Saitama , Japan. He is survived by his brother , Harvey A. Weaver, and grandchildren Sarah , Ryan & Perrin Kennedy , Avery Puffer , Penelope Weaver , and Ian , Luke and Sydne y Flemming. He is predeceased in death b y his sister , Virginia Stamper , and nephew , David Stamper.

After graduating with a master ' s degree in chemistry from Miami University and a 2nd master ' s degree in business administration from Ohio University , he worked as a research chemist at NCR in Dayton , OH; later Mead Paper Research in Chillicothe, having produced six patents along the way. He later worked with the Appalachian Rural Systemic Initiative Development Group (Project Discovery) , and also taught Ph y sics at Shawnee State Uni v ersity , Astronomy at Ohio University ­ Chillicothe, and was an Adjunct Visiting Distinguished Scientist at Miami University.

He was activel y involved in community service including: Executive Board of the National Council of Boy Scouts of America; Simon Kenton Council Commissioner (where he received the District Aw ard of Merit and The Silver Bea v er Award) and served as Chairman of the Chief Logan D i strict. He also served in many community organizations such as Rotary International as a Paul Harris Fellow and Rotary Club of Chillicothe (former President) ; Trustee of Adena Regional Medical Center (Treasurer and Chair) ; Walnut Street United Methodist Church (as Treasurer , Board of Trustees and Sunday School Teacher ); First Capital Enterprises (Chair); Hill View Retirement Center (Board Member); Symposiarchs of America (Secretary) , was the 2006 Educational Hero of Ross County Chapter of the American Red Cross ; member of The Ross County United Way Allocation Committee and The Sunset Club.

He thoroughly enjoyed doing crossword puzzles , and working on the famil y' s genealogy , going back more than 17 generations , revealing lineage to Martin Luther. He was very active in the Genealogical Society of Montgomery County. He enjoyed his John Deere tractor ; could fix an y thing , and was an avid Ohio State Football fan. U ntil arthritis hindered him so , he loved being outdoors working with his bee hives , orchard and garden. Though his wife was a music teacher , she always credited him with his profound knowledge of classical music. His quiet demeanor and dry sense of humor will be so missed .

The family would like to thank the care givers throughout this journey , especially the loving care gi v en at CareCore - Westmorland Place , and the Davita Dialysis Center.

A private graveside service will be held for the immediate family. Friends and family are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life service Sunday July 6, at 3:30pm at Walnut St. UMC . In lieu of flowers , the famil y suggests donations to either: The Heifer Project International - 1 World Ave. , Little Rock , Arkansas , 72202 or Walnut St. United Methodist Church - 16 S. Walnut St. , Chillicothe, Ohio 45601
