Franklin Ragland

Franklin Eugene Ragland, 83, of Chillicothe, passed from this life to his heavenly home on April 6, 2021, at Adena Medical Center after a brief illness.

Franklin was born September 17, 1937 to the late Wardie and Kathryn (Beatty) Ragland.  He was preceded in death by 4 sisters: Gladys Logan, Hilda Jackson, Darlene Ragland, and Arlene Garnes, a son, Stacey Lamarr Hitchens, and two great-grandchildren.

Franklin married Patricia A. Hitchens on January 27, 1961 who preceded him in death on December 10, 2015.  Surviving is a son Carl M. (Toni) Hitchens of Frankfort.  He also leaves behind 4 grandchildren (Carl Hitchens II, Alexandria (Hitchens) Ewing, Janell Maughmer, and Stacee Hitchens, 11 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren; as well as his sisters, Charlotte of Springfield and Daisy of Chillicothe; and his brother, Wardie Edward of Chillicothe.

Franklin was a graduate of Frankfort High School and a US Air Force veteran.  He was a member of Zion Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and served faithfully for many years.  He loved to sing and sang with the Senior Choir as well as the Chillicothe Community Male Choir. He retired from Dupont of Circleville after more than 30 years.  He   obtained his realtor's license and was a realtor with ERA Martin & Associates.   Franklin, or Frank as he was called, was a dedicated husband who adored his wife; a wonderful father, father-in-law, and grandfather.  He will be deeply missed by his family and many others.  To God be the glory for the things He has done.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Monday at Zion Baptist Church, 536 Mill Street, "Old Zion," with Rev. Dr. J. Troy Gray officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Chillicothe.   Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
