Franklin D. "Dale" McCray, 62, of Chillicothe, died on Wednesday, November 5, 2008, while working on his tractor doing what he loves, farming. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Tuesday, November 11, at Haller Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin McLaughlin and Rev. Harry Oyer officiating. Military graveside services conducted by the Ross Co. Veteran Honor Guard will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 5-8pm at Haller Funeral Home. Dale is survived by his wife and best friend Lorna McCray; children: Ryan Graves, Penny (Russell) Lambert; Heather (Mike) Hefner; Rebecca Driver; and Crystal (Wendall) Lowman; grandchildren: David Rhodes; Jasea McCray; Jade McCray; Jessica McCray; Samantha Daniels; Lisa Branhan; Taylor Lambert; Alijah Fairrow; Caleb Hefner; and a grandson due in December; 3 great-grandchildren; his mother, Tellie Younts; six brothers: Willard (Fern) McCray; Paul McCray; Sam (Pat) McCray; Terry (Marlene) McCray; Thomas McCray; and Andy (Tammy) McCray; four sisters: Julie King; Mary Ellen Williams; Sandy (Sam) Withrow; Audrey (Robert) Johnson; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews; his mother-in-law Shirley Pence; a special father-in-law and friend, Lewis Pence; and a sister-in-law Joy (Don) Laughlin. Once in your life you could only hope to find that one true friend, and Dale found his in Steve and Ruby Eldridge. He will be forever missed by his wife and family. He was predeceased by his father, Autry McCray; brothers: Autry McCray, Jr.; Denny McCray; Bennie McCray; Bob McCray; and Bill McCray; and sisters Eva "May" Parks and Anna Sue Lewis. Dale was the rock of the family, always making sure that everyone kept in touch and visited each while always being there for his family. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and acquaintances. He was a veteran of the Marine Corps and retired from the Air Force Reserves. He was a farmer and retired from the Budd Co. and from Chillicothe Correctional Institute. He was a member of the Eagles, Aerie 600; American Legion, Post 62 and the Ross Co. Conservation League. He volunteered with his wife's 4H group. Dale I love you more than any one person can love another. I will do everything I can to keep running our farms and take care of your precious cows. Seven stayed with me and Lewis until the squad got there. I will never let anyone do anything with her. Ryan wants you to know the adoption meant the world to him; he is truly your son. I will make you proud of me.
