Frank H. Maxson, 84, of Chillicothe, died at 2:40pm Friday, April 10, 2009, in Adena Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. He was born October 17, 1924, in Lockbourne, OH, to the late George P. and Grace A. True Maxson. On April 19, 1944, he married the former Delorles E. Stapleton, who survives. Also surviving are his son and daughter-in-law Ned (Judy) Maxson, of Millfield, OH; daughters Terry Spangler, of Frankfort; and Vickie Maxson, Austin, TX; son Toby Maxson, Caldwell, OH; son and daughter-in-law Brett (Jodie) Maxson, Beulaville, NC; grandchildren Victor (Brittany) Maxson, Dan Spangler, Karl Spangler, and Amber Rothe; and 9 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a foster brother Charles Dwayne Long. Frank retired in 1982 from Reader's Digest where he worked for 30 years as a national sales representative and had achieved his law degree. He also worked as a brakeman for the B & O Railroad, was the founder and former owner of "Mac's Vacs," a carpenter and enjoyed tinkering and fixing up things. He served his country in the US Army during WWII where he received five bronze stars. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 62, the VFW, Post 108, and was a past commander of the 40 et 8. He had attended the First Church of God. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Tuesday in the Haller Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Ault officiating. Military graveside services, conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard, will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8pm Monday at Haller Funeral Home. Memorial contributions, is desired, may be made to the First Church of God Building Fund, 780 E. Water St., Chillicothe.
