Frank D. Boothe, Sr., 89, of Chillicothe, died 10:05 pm, Friday, September 26, 2014, at his home, following an extended illness. He was born November 17, 1924 in Columbus, OH to the late Thomas M. and Emma C. Smith Boothe Sr. On August 6, 1944 he married Mary Elizabeth Ott, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Frank "Dan" (Sue) Boothe, New Albany, OH, Deborah (James) Humphreys, Jacksonville, FL, and David (Clare) Boothe, Johns Creek, GA; six grandchildren, Beth White, Angie (Tyler) Abrams, Amy (Greg) Johnson, , Jason (Melissa) Retherford, Roman Boothe and Anastasia Boothe; six great-grandchildren, Ian White, Mallory Retherford, Lauren and Brennan Johnson, and Audrey and Emma Abrams. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara (Mike "Herbie") Retherford and three siblings, Thomas and Arthur Boothe and Anna Weaver. Mr. Boothe was a World War II Navy veteran and served two tours in the Atlantic and one in the Pacific theaters. He retired in 1978 from the VA Medical Center-Chillicothe as a psychiatric nursing aide and later worked for Marietta Place Nursing Home as maintenance manager. He was a member of Yellowbud Chapel, AMVETS Post 4, the VFW and a founding member of the Chief Petty Officers Club and American Legion Post 757. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday at Haller Funeral Home, with his brother-in-law Charles Ott officiating. Military graveside services will follow in Springbank Cemetery on Route 104 followed by a reception at Ross County Fairgrounds Multipurpose Building until 4pm. Friends may call 5-8 pm Monday evening or 9-10:45 am on Tuesday at Haller's.
