Faye Coe

February 8, 1929 — June 21, 2022

Faye Coe of Chillicothe passed away peacefully at home on June 21, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was born on February 8, 1929 in Germano, Ohio (Harrison Co.) to the late Owen and Mary Hoobler.

Her late husband Kenneth of 64 years preceded her in death on May 25, 2014. They were married on September 3, 1949.

Survivors include a daughter Marilyn Munsey, a son Kevin (Debbie) both of Chillicothe. Also, surviving is a granddaughter Tricia Washington (Melvin) and Tricia's daughters Lauren Junk and Kyla Beeler of Chillicothe. Another great-granddaughter Ashton Junk passed away in January 2018. In addition, surviving is a special nephew, Kenneth Dornbush (Jefferson Co).

Faye graduated from Wintersville High School (Jefferson Co. Oh.) in 1947. She participated in and enjoyed many activities while attending high school. Her mother Mary Hoobler was a Home Economics teacher at the school.

She attended Ohio University and received her B.S. in Education in 1952. While there, she became a charter and lifelong member of Sigma Kappa Sorority.

She began her teaching career in West Jefferson, Ohio in the early 1950's as a third-grade teacher. She taught for two years and then substitute taught for two years. The next few years, she spent at home caring for their two small children.

In 1961, the family moved to Chillicothe, Oh. - her husband as an elementary principal at Tiffin School and she as a Kindergarten Teacher at Central School. She retired after 23 years of teaching Kindergarten. Faye then served as a substitute Kindergarten teacher for 20 years. She found working with 5 year-olds most enjoyable.

Faye has been a member of Trinity United Methodist Church since 1961 when they moved to town. She was an active member of a women's circle and served on various committees and in other areas when she was able.

She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society and was honored in 2016 for having been a member for 50 years. Her membership continued and she attended when possible. At one time she served as President.

She belonged to PEO-Chapter EH and Century Club. She was a life member of RCRT and OEA. She was a Martha Holden Jennings Scholar and was honored to be given the Chillicothe Association Educator Emeritus Award.

She enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of several clubs over the years. She enjoyed antiques and reading and spending time with and keeping in touch with many longtime friends. Faye felt fortunate to have kind and dedicated aids to help her take care of her husband for his last six years.

Making holidays and birthdays special for her family and their care and needs was her first priority. She provided home healthcare for her mother and also husband for a number of years. She also helped with her daughter Marilyn's care and wanted to make sure she was provided for and also was comfortable.

A special thank-you goes out to her helpers over the years: Betty Grube, Cathline Hart, Kathy Seymour, Louisa Fout, Betsy Cartwright, and Sondra Dailey. They made her life easier and allowed her to remain at home during her last years.

Also, Heartland Hospice provided excellent healthcare for Faye for a number of months. She enjoyed interacting with their employees during their healthcare visits.

Her funeral service will be held at 1pm Wednesday, June 29, at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Euggle Robertson officiating.  Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery.  Friends may call Wednesday from 11am until 1pm at the funeral home.
