Evelyn Traylor

November 26, 1922 — September 23, 2018

On September 23, 2018, at 10:20pm, my dearest Mother entered the gates of Heaven, and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ welcomed her with open arms.   Grace Evelyn Traylor was born November 26, 1922, in Chillicothe, to John Emmett and Grace Ethel (Neff) Miller. On November 27, 1947, she went on her first date with Albert Brady Traylor. He was the assistant manager at the Singer Sewing Machine Co. and she was a sewing instructor there. Forty-five days later, on January 11, 1948, they were married. They enjoyed 64 years together until he passed in 2012.   Together, they had three children: Elaine, John (Deanna) and Janet Evelyn, who survive. Also surviving are a grandson William Traylor; great-granddaughters Ashley and Emilie Grace Traylor; sister-in-law Patricia Traylor; nieces Cheryl (Michael) Dennis, Penny (Delbert) Haynes and Teri (Alvaro) Moreno; nephews: Michael (Carolyn) Stanhope, Randall Stanhope and Kevin (Michelle) Stanhope; several great-and great-great-nieces and nephews; grand-dogs Eunice Alberta and Lulu; grand-kitty Kippy James; and very dear friend Addy Gardner, whose friendship meant the world to my Mother. She was predeceased by her parents; paternal grandparents Emanuel and Josephine (Howerton) Miller; maternal grandparents McClelland and Suffia (Vest) Neff; sister and brother-in-law Pauline and Thomas Stanhope; brothers: Harry Leroy Justice, an infant Miller; in-laws William and Ethel (Scott) Traylor; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Kenneth T. and Jean Traylor; brother-in-law William H. Traylor; niece Paulette Traylor; and great-great-great-niece Aubriegh Lynn Ray.   Never has there been a kinder, gentler soul than that of my Mother. She had the ability to make everything right, whether it be laying her hand on a fevered forehead or by placing a kiss on tears as they fell. She loved her family endlessly and unconditionally and always did her best to make sure that we knew it without a doubt. The most important gift that she gave her children, more important than her gift of selflessness and love, was that we were raised by a Mother that took us to church and instilled Christian values in us.   She was a very talented artist and enjoyed anything that involved arts and crafts. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling, playing the piano, cooking and baking.   Her funeral service will be held at 1pm Friday, September 28, at Haller Funeral Home & Crematory, with Rev. Jack Norman officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 5-8pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial contribution to the Ross Co. Humane Society, 2308A Lick Run Rd., Chillicothe, OH 45601.
