Evelyn Mccollister

Evelyn D. McCollister, 85, of Chillicothe, died at 7:08pm Thursday, December 17, 2009, in Adena Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness. She was born August 22, 1924, in Chillicothe to the late Howard R. and Margaret Reynolds Moore, Sr. On June 15, 1947, she married Ellwyn O. McCollister, Sr., who preceded her in death on December 28, 1993. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law Ellwyn O. (Teena) McCollister, Jr., Chillicothe; daughters and sons-in-law Karen (Darrell) Proehl; Madelyn McCollister, all of Chillicothe; Rebecca (Oakley) Nichols, of Vinton Co.; grandchildren Gracie Kaltenbach and her special companion Daniel Gutierrez; Rickey (Heidi) Proehl; Jamie (Stephanie) McCollister; and Christopher Nichols and his special companion Holly Stonerock; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law Joice Moore, of Chillicothe. She was predeceased by her brother Howard Moore, Jr.; and grandchildren Jillian Dawn Nichols and Nathan Nichols. Evelyn graduated from Union-Scioto High School, Class of 1943. She was a member of After God's Heart Church. She was the most faithful and loved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Those who knew her loved her. Private graveside services will take place at the convenience of the family in Floral Hills Memory Gardens with Pastor Dora J. Hunt officiating. Friends may call Monday from 6-8pm at Haller Funeral Home.
