Eva States

Eva E. States, 76, of Chillicothe, died 2:09 am, Sunday, September 24, 2017, at the Adena Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness.   She was born October 17, 1940 in Chillicothe to the late Eugene and Bernadine Niks Hollis. On August 17, 1976 she married Melvin F. States, who survives. Also surviving are her children, Christine (Tracy) Knight, Londonderry and Scott (Lisa) Diehl, Chillicothe; a step son, Bryan States, Londonderry; five grandchildren, Michael, Christy, Patrick, Heather and Whitney; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald (Jane) Hollis, Lexington, KY and Nicholas (his special friend, Kathy) Hollis, Riverside, CA; and two sisters, Rita (Dale) Perry, Lakeland, FL and Joan (David) Harper, Chillicothe. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jennifer Diehl; two brothers, Joseph and Daniel Hollis; and a sister, Betty Park.   Mrs. States loved her dogs and doing crafts, especially painting. She enjoyed ancestry and was an avid bowler. She worked at the 20 th Century Bowling Alley and as an in-home caregiver.   She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12:00 pm Wednesday, Rev. Sean Dooley, Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. Friends may call 10:30–11:30 am Wednesday at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory.
