Eunice Mankin, 86, of Chillicothe, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2023 at ProMedica of Chillicothe, following an extended illness.
She was born April 10, 1937 in Chillicothe, daughter of the late Joseph Benjamin and Della (Baker) Bland.
She is survived by her beloved daughter, Cathy Stansberry; three grandchildren, Robyn, Bobbi, and Mitchell Stansberry; 7 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Ronnie Mankin, who helped raise her daughter. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Ruby, Jack, and Carlos Bland.
Eunice, who was lovingly referred to as "Mommy" to many, took great pride in her family. She worked in Chillicothe at various establishments as a bar maid, before buying her uncles bar known as Elmer's Place. She transformed the property into the Shenandoah Bar, where she worked for many years up until her retirement. Her family and friends will forever remember her kindness, her fun-loving spirit, and her ability to always have a good time.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no public services. In lieu of flowers, family and friends are encouraged to honor her memory by making a donation to the Ross County Humane Society, or to tip your server a little extra at your next visit out.
