Etta Tanner

Etta Irene Tanner, 101, of Chillicothe, died 8:20 pm, March 3, 2018, at her residence, following an extended illness.   She was born January 14, 1917 in Harrison Co., OH to the late James R. and Anna Mae M. Truman Jordan. On September 6, 1938 she married Alfred E. Tanner, who died December 25, 1972. Survivors include two sons, James R. (Judy) Tanner, of Chillicothe and Paul J. Tanner, of Columbus; a daughter, Anna T. (Mussa) Littlejohn, of Washington DC; six grandchildren, Alfred C. (Jamila) Tanner, James C. (April) Tanner, Harold J. (Yayu) Tanner, James R. Tanner II, Alfreda I. Mobley and Anastasia M. Mobley; seven great-grandchildren, Zaire, Chloe, Alesha, Bianca, Felix, Agelic, and Jamila's daughter; a daughter-in-law, Christian Tanner; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two children, Alfred L. Tanner and Jessie Mobley; three brothers and four sisters; and a son-in-law, Bernard Mobley.   Mrs. Tanner was a long time member of Zion Baptist Church and attended First Baptist Church.   Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Friday at Zion Baptist Church, Rev. Dr. J. Troy Gray officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call 11-1 at the church, prior to the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Zion Baptist Church, 84 S. Clinton Rd., Chillicothe, OH 45601.
