Esther Marie Hawk, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, April 3, 2022. She was born November 4, 1941, in Chillicothe, Ohio to the late William J. and Mary Ellen (Speaks) Hamilton. On November 4, 1961, she married the love of her life, David J. Hawk, who survives.
In addition to her husband Dave, surviving is her daughter, Brenda (Todd) Snyder; her son, Lonnie (Jamie) Hawk; grandchildren, Caitlyn (Jeffrey) Ours, Christian (Lauren) Snyder; great-grandchildren, Leo Ours, and her namesake Ila Esther Ours (expected July 2022); a sister, Phyllis Ann (Delbert) Ashworth; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and her special companion Mugsy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Patricia Ann and Nancy Mae Hamilton; and foster son, Phillip.
Esther was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Even during her sickness, her eyes would light up anytime Christian, Caitlyn, and Leo would visit. A smile was always on her face when her loving husband would greet her with "How's my baby doll?". Esther enjoyed watching her "soaps", "politics" and would not miss watching her country music shows every Saturday night. Although she was a homemaker, she made the tough job of raising a family and babysitting her grandchildren, appear easy. Esther and Dave were foster parents to many children and would always help children at the Chillicothe Children's Home celebrate Christmas.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00pm on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at the Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Chillicothe. Calling hours will not be observed.
