Esther Franklin

Esther M. Franklin, 89, of Chillicothe, died at 2:38am Monday, August 8, 2011, in Traditions of Chillicothe. She was born May 29, 1922, in Chillicothe, to the late William Lawrence and Elma (Humphrey) Jakes. On November 27, 1943, she married John W. Franklin, Jr., who preceded her in death on July 11, 1998. Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law John W. Franklin III, of Gardner, KS; Christopher L. (Linda) Franklin, of Dumfries, VA; Nicholas S. (Teresa) Franklin, of Chillicothe; daughter and son-in-law Nancy (John) Bost, of Chillicothe; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Dennewitz, of Visalia, CA. She was predeceased by her brother, Colonel Lawrence Jakes. In keeping with her wishes, private services and interment in Grandview Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family under the direction of Haller Funeral Home.
