Essie E. "Gene" Beverly, 82, of Frankfort, went to be with the Lord at 10:00pm Thursday October 11, 2007, in his home following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Tuesday in the First Baptist Church, 71 W. Fourth St., with Rev. Jonathan McReynolds officiating. Military graveside services conducted by the Ross Co. Veteran Honor Guard will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 11am until 1pm Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Haller Funeral Home. Gene was born March 7, 1925, in Chillicothe to the late Essie and Marie Henderson Beverly. On September 16, 1947, he married the former Bernadette Brown, who survives. Also surviving are his daughter Linda Haithcock, Raleigh, NC; daughter and son-in-law Toni (Carl) Hitchens, Frankfort; sons and daughters-in-law Randy (Christy) Beverly, Chillicothe; Richard (April) Beverly, Ganado, AZ; Michael (Valerie) Beverly, Kayenta, AZ; 21 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters Willa Carlis, Elizabeth McFarland, Ilene Belton, and Sharon Woodfork; brothers David Beverly, Charles Beverly, Harold Beverly, Jon Beverly, and Melvin Beverly; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by a daughter Karen E. McClain; a son-in-law John Haithcock; sisters Clara Beverly and Marie Gibson; and brothers Sylvester Beverly, Walter Beverly, Richard Beverly, and Robert Beverly. Gene worked as a nurse's aid at the former Chillicothe Hospital and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, retiring in 1982. He was a WWII Army Veteran and a member of the Body of Christ.
