Ernest Damico

Ernest J. Damico, 91, of Chillicothe, died at 1:50 am, Monday, September 22, 2008, in his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 am Friday in St. Peter Church, Rev. William Hahn, Celebrant. Military graveside services, conducted by Ross Co. Firing Squad, will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. Friends may call 5-8 pm Thursday in the Haller Funeral Home, where a Rosary Service will be held at 8:00 pm. He was born April 14, 1917 in Chillicothe, the son of the late Antonio (Tony) and Anna Antonelli Damico. On October 15, 1946 he married Mary Catherine Fink Damico, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Joseph (Dianne) Damico, of Columbus, Christopher (Rebecca) Damico, of Westerville, Annette Damico, Nicholas Damico, Judith (Daniel) Harness and Edward Damico, of Chillicothe; 11 grandchildren, Greg Damico, Gary Damico, Anna Damico, Andrew Damico, Mary Harness, Margaret Harness, Seth Harness, Sara Harness, Jacob Damico, Zachary Damico, and Isaac Damico; a sister, Ruth (William) Neal, of Chillicothe; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Vincent and sisters, Dorothy and Virginia; an infant daughter; and two grandchildren. Mr. Damico retired from Wear Ever Aluminum in 1982 after 32 years of service. He was a World War II Army veteran, having served in the South Pacific. He was a lifetime member of St. Peters Church; a member of the American Legion Post 62; and the St. Margaret Cemetery Board. He was a devoted father and husband who enjoyed walking, sports, and spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter Church, Renovation Fund, 126 Church St., Chillicothe or Bishop Flaget School, 570 Parsons Ave., Chillicothe.
