Erma J. Nesbitt, 65, of Chillicothe, gave up the ghost and went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 21, 2008, in Adena Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at Noon Saturday, September 27, in the Original Glorious Church of God in Christ with Bishop Melvin Maughmer officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 6-8pm at Haller Funeral Home. Erma was born in Akron, OH, a gift from the union of Ulice and Clementine Wright Sherman, both of whom preceded her in death. Erma was the loving wife of one husband, Elder Willie E. Nesbitt, Chillicothe, for 45 years who survives. She was the proud mother of three children who survive: Michelle Alexander, Sandusky; S. Rene (Anthony) King; and Torrance (Chasity) Nesbitt, all of Chillicothe; 14 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; a sister Carolyn (Bernard) Norton, Clinton, MD; two brothers Ulice Sherman, Detroit, MI; and Duane (Arcine) Poole, Ft. Washington, MD; a special aunt Claira Durham, Willard, OH; a special cousin Essie Brown, Sandusky; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; her step-father Arthur Poole; a sister Clementine Alexander; and a brother Cleopatrick Sherman. She always said, "God made us family, love made us friends." Erma was a faithful member of the Original Glorious Church of God in Christ. She retired from Ross Correctional Institute in 2002 where she worked as a food service coordinator. She relocated to Chillicothe from Sandusky, OH, where she was a faithful member of Victory Christian Center under the leadership of Pastor Robert Jones. There she served on the hospitality committee, usher board and as a missionary. She was a graduate of Willard High School, Class of 1962.
