Ercolo Picciano
July 2, 1930 — May 18, 2024
Ercolo Alberto Picciano, 93, of Chillicothe, died 8:15am, Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Bristol Village, Waverly. The family is so appreciative of the loving care he received from the staff at Bristol Village.
He was born July, 2, 1930 in Busso, Italy to the late Liberato and Lucia Picciano. On August 23, 1952 he married Mary Ann Dye who passed May 29, 2019.
Ercolo is survived by his four children, Lucinda (Jeffrey) Hutman, Schaumburg, IL, Dean (Suzie) Picciano, Lindenhurst, NY, Anita (Michael) Surran, and Victor (Susan) Picciano, both of Chillicothe; 9 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren, his sister, Filomena (Lou) Spronz of Wickliffe, OH and many beloved nieces and nephews and an extended circle of friends who enriched his life throughout his years. He was predeceased by brother Nick Picciano and sisters Lorenza Albanese, Mary Biondolillo, Antoinette Mucciarone.
Ercolo Graduated from Ohio University as a Civil Engineer. He served in the US Army in Austria during the Korean War. While working for ODOT Ercolo and Mary Ann moved to Chillicothe, OH and became members of St. Peter Catholic Church. He worked for the private engineering firm of Barrett, Cargo and Withers and then for the Goodyear Atomic Plant, retiring in 1994.
Ercolo was very active in the community volunteering with Boy Scouts of America, serving on the school board for Unioto School District, the Historical Society, the Ross County Planning Commission, St. Peter Church, the VA Medical Center and the Ross County Park District.
The family will receive friends at the Haller Funeral Home on Thursday from 5 to 7pm with a Vigil Service at 6:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024 at 1:00 PM at St. Peter Catholic Church, 118 Church Street, Chillicothe, followed by burial at St. Margaret Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Peter Church, 285 W. Water St., Chillicothe or the Ross County Historical Society, 45 W. Fifth St., Chillicothe.
