Emmitt Nichols

Emmitt Nichols, 85, of Chillicothe, died at 9:30am Friday, August 10, 2012, in his home following an extended illness. He was born May 6, 1927, in Ross County to the late John R. and Georgia I. (Keller) Nichols. Surviving are his wife, Noni C. (Sterling) Nichols, of Chillicothe; his daughter Janet (Robert) Stulley, Chillicothe; step-daughter Patty Immell, Chillicothe; 7 grandchildren: 2 step-grandsons; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 step-great-grandchild; 1 great-great-granddaughter; brothers Herman Richard (Kay) Nichols; William (Naomi) Nichols; Robert (Dora) Nichols; Earl Nichols; sisters Audrey (Sesco) Hardesty, all of Chillicothe; and Majel Delong, Circleville; and many friends, including his special lifelong friend, Dale Gillette. He was predeceased by his parents, his first wife, Evelyn J. (Jordan) Nichols; his son John Nichols; his daughter Carol Sue Nichols; and a step-great-granddaughter Samantha Allen. Emmitt worked as a die setter for 37 years at the former Wear Ever Co. Following his retirement, he then worked for Liberty Township for 6 years. He was a member of the Richmond Dale Church of God and a US Navy Veteran of WWII. Graveside services will be held at 1:00pm Tuesday, August 14, in Londonderry Cemetery with his brother, Pastor William Nichols officiating.
