Elwood Allen Strausbaugh, 78, of Chillicothe, passed away unexpectedly on Friday afternoon, June 13, 2025 at his home.

He was born May 31, 1947 to the late Clarence Wayne and Violet (Dunkel) Strausbaugh. On June 8, 1968, he married his beloved wife, Sharon Kay (Cash) Strausbaugh, who preceded him in death on April 10, 2015.

Surviving is his son, Mike (Laura) Strausbaugh; his grandson, Kannon (Tori) Strausbaugh; granddaughter, Kylan Strausbaugh; beloved great-grandsons, Beckham and Ellis; his brothers, Kenneth, Thomas, and Dan Strausbaugh; his sister, Jennifer (Bob) Bush; and his dear friend, Geneva Richardson. In addition to his parents and wife, Sharon, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Barbara Strausbaugh.

Elwood was a graduate of Southeastern High School, class of 1965. Upon his graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he served honorably until 1968. He went on to work at DuPont in Circleville for many years before retiring in 2005. Although he was a private man, Elwood was known for his love of sports, and could frequently be found at a gym or ball field supporting the student athletes. He especially loved watching his great-grandsons play baseball, rarely missing a game. He was a member of the Masons, and enjoyed meeting his friends at the Main Street McDonalds for his morning coffee. He also enjoyed traveling and taking trips to Florida during the winter months. He will truly be missed by all who had a chance to know him.
