Elsie Marie Breckenridge Harris, 61, of 845 Washington Avenue, died at 8:15 a.m. June 13, 1989 at her home following an extended illness.
She was born March 19, 1928, in Chillicothe to Caleb and Grace Marie Woodfork Breckenridge, who both died in 1986.On August 4, 1948, she married Clyde Harris, from whom she was currently separated.
She was the proud mother of 11 children, five boys and six girls; Michael and his wife Carolyn, of Munich, West Germany, Clyde Raymond and his wife Sharon, of Columbus, Peter Daniel of Chillicothe, Elsie "Peaches" and her husband, Raheem Shabazz, of Piketon, Della and her husband Leon Norman, of Columbus, Dorcas and her husband Jimmy Stanley, of Portsmouth, Beth Harris of Chillicothe, Dorothy Howard of Porstmounth, and Christina Lynn Harris, at home. She will be greatly missed by 14 grandchildren. Leaving also to mourn her death are her sisters, Dorothy Williams, of Florida, Shirley Jones, of Boston, and Nancy Westbrook, of Columbus; and a brother, Caleb Breckenridge Jr., of Chillicothe. She was predeceased by two sons, Paul W. Harris and an infant son, P.W. Harris; a sister, Betty Perkins; and her parents, Caleb and Grace Marie Breckenridge.
She was a very faithful member of the Bethel Full Gospel Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Saturday at the Glorious Church of God in Christ with Pastor Larry Grant officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 7:00pm-9:00pm Friday at the Haller Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Diabetes Foundation.
