Elroy James

Elroy F. "El J." James, 67, of Chillicothe, formerly of Lima, OH, died unexpectedly at 7:24pm March 3, 2014, at Adena Regional Medical Center. He was born December 31, 1946, in Columbus, GA, to the late Elroy F. and Lois (Crawford) James. On December 18, 2003, he married the former Catherine A. Webb, who survives. In addition to his wife Cathy, he is survived by their children: Heaven and Jordan James, both of Chillicothe; his children: Dr. Sheilla McNeal; Felicia James; Michael James; and Gabriel James, all of Lima, OH; his step-son Johnnie Nash, Chillicothe; many grandchildren; his sister Crissie Huggins, of Georgia; and his friend David Carter, Chillicothe. He was predeceased by his parents; and a brother Tyrone James. El J. was a graduate of Lima Senior High School, Class of 1963. He served his country in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War as well as during the Persian Gulf War. He was a retired corrections officer with the Allen Correction Facility. He was a former member of the AMVETS Post 1, and the VFW, Post 1275, both of Lima. The family will receive friends Friday from 5-7pm at Haller Funeral Home.
