Elmont Stewart

Elmont E. Stewart, "Dollar Bill" 87, of Chillicothe, died 7:40 pm, Sunday, March 15, 2009, in the Adena Regional Medical Center. He was born September 27, 1921 in Urbana, OH to Elmer E. and Ida L. Weaver Stewart. On November 8, 1941 he married Mildred Artis, who survives. Also surviving is his daughter, Ila Sopher, of Cincinnati, OH; two grandsons, Kevin (Franchelle) Sopher, of Chillicothe and Joe (Terri) Sopher, of Cincinnati; eight great-grandchildren, Kevin Jr., Joe, Kalin, Chris, Justin, Joe Jr., Jessica and Omari; and a great-great grandchild, Sariah. He was preceded in death by a brother, Lloyd and a sister, Ada Stewart. Mr. Stewart was a life long member of First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He retired from the N & W Railroad as a supervisor and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and stock car fan. He was a member of Ionic Lodge #6 and loved working with his hands. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Friday in the First Baptist Church, Rev. Jonathan McReynolds officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call 11-1 at the church Friday.
