Elmer Himelrick

Elmer J. "Boodle" Himelrick, 74, of Richmond Dale, went to be with the Lord unexpectedly Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at his home. He was born July 9, 1935, in Vinton Co., to the late John Wesley and Goldie Sanney Himelrick. On January 9, 1954, he married Shirley R. Howard, who survives. Also surviving are his son and daughter-in-law Mark (Kathy) Himelrick, of Richmond Dale; son Martin A. "Andy" Himelrick, Chillicothe; grandchildren Shasta Himelrick, Chillicothe; Buddy (Crystal) Jenkins; James (Danielle) Jenkins; and Tammy (Fred) Hammond, all of Oak Hill; 7 great-grandchildren; brother Elmer Jack Himelrick, Richmond Dale; brother and sister-in-law Ervin (Eleanor) Himelrick, Chillicothe; and his sister Margie Betts, Chillicothe. He was predeceased by 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Boodle has been a very active member of the Richmond Dale Church of God since 1953, having served in numerous capacities, most recently on the Layman's Board. He retired from Chillicothe Correctional Institute in 1990 following 15 years of service. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, cooking beans and especially enjoyed helping people out. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Friday, April 2, in the Richmond Dale Church of God with Pastors Dean Thompson and John Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Little Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 12pm until 2pm Friday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Haller Funeral Home.
