Ellen Boggs

Ellen M. Boggs, 90, of Chillicothe, went to Heaven, surrounded by her loving family at 7:40 pm on Monday, April 18, 2022 at National Church Residences after a long battle with Alzheimer's.

Ellen was born on October 27, 1931 in Chillicothe, Ohio to the late John and Bernice (Dawson) Corrigan. On September 22, 1951 she married her beloved husband Robert E. Boggs who survives. They were united in marriage by Rev. Lawrence J. O'Conner at St. Mary's Church and together they shared over 70 years of marriage.
Also surviving are four daughters, Debra Boggs, Melinda Fisher, and Barbara Boggs, of Chillicothe and Robin (Daryl) Knab of Calabash, NC; eight grandchildren, Ronald (Heidi) and Matthew (Sharon) Gillum; Nicolas (Hillary) and Jeffrey (Lindsay) Fisher; Traci (Jon) Click; Sarah (Cary) Eberts of Chillicothe; Brian (Amy) Knab of Waxhaw, NC; and Amy Combs of Dayton, OH; 17 great-grandchildren with another one on the way and one great-great-grandchild. Ellen was predeceased by one brother, Lloyd (Bud) Corrigan; two sisters, Bertha Bell and Florence DePugh; a half-sister Phyllis Arnett McKean; and a grandson Dustin Gillum.

Ellen graduated as Valedictorian of her class from Catholic Central in 1949. She served as clerk at the Ross County Health Department, the Chillicothe Municipal Court, and the Board of Elections. However, her most rewarding job was as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Ellen loved watching all of her grandchildren's sporting events and attending their school activities. Though her memories faded she took great pleasure in seeing her great-grandchildren who always brought a smile to her face.
Ellen loved to bowl and was on several bowling leagues throughout the years. She took up golf later in life and enjoyed playing nine with her friends. Bob and Ellen traveled the United States and enjoyed stopping at casinos along the way as she loved playing the slots.

Ellen was a sweet gentle soul and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, April 22, 2022 at the Haller Funeral Home with Pastor Anne Cox officiating. Burial will follow in St. Margaret's Cemetery. Friends may join the family for visitation from 11:00am until the time of the service.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association Central Ohio Chapter, 1379 Dublin Rd, Columbus, OH 43215.
