Elias Hoosier

Elias Hoosier, Jr., 79, died at 9:04pm, September 14, 2014, at Westmoreland Place following an extended illness. He was born July 10, 1935, in Ross County to the late Elias, Sr. and Ora (Harris) Hoosier. On June 24, 1961, he married the former Laura Mae Pettiford, who preceded him in death on April 5, 2005. Elias is survived by his daughter, Edna Hoosier, Chillicothe; sons Dwayne Hoosier and his companion Earlene Tyler, both of Chillicothe; Jeff (Evelyn) Hoosier, Frankfort; Tony Hoosier and Johnathan Hoosier, both of Chillicothe; grandchildren: Kendra Hoosier, James Groves and Frank Simmons; great-grandson Jordan Hoosier; brothers Herbert, Earl and Louie Hoosier; sisters Mary Harris, Bonnie Harris, Eleanor Harris, Daisy (Joe) Tanner, and Marie Hoosier; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, wife, a brother Donald and a sister Hester. Elias was a member of Floral Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He retired from the City of Chillicothe in 1994. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Thursday, September 18, at the Floral Baptist Church, with Rev. James Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 11am until 1pm Thursday at the church.
