Eleanor Keels

Eleanor Mae Ragland-Keels, age 81, of Chillicothe, passed away at her residence at 1:30am Sunday, September 18, 2011, following an extended illness. She was born February 23, 1930, in Ross Co., to the late Rev. Owen and Emma Ragland. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marcha Keels, in 1993, whom she married June 6, 1954. Eleanor will be greatly missed by surviving daughters: Marsha Morrison; Jodina (Benjamin) Sewards; Vonda (Jon) Lowe; son Eric Keels, all of Chillicothe; daughters Gwendolyn (Willie) Hoosier-Rowell; Lillian Keels; and Angela Keels, all of Columbus; sisters Julia Gray and Mary Ragland, both of Chillicothe; an uncle Roger (Kathleen) Ragland, of Frankfort; sisters-in-law Janie Ragland, Chillicothe; and Mary (Joseph) Woods, Columbus; and a special family friend Kathy Lowery, Chillicothe. She was also loved and blessed by 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 step-grandchild; and 1 step-great-grandchild; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by one son, Marcha Mont Keels, Jr.; brothers Owen Ragland, Jr. and Rev. Charles Ragland. She was a member of the former Shiloh Baptist Church of Frankfort. She was a loving, devoted and cherished wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She loved the Lord and her family deeply. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Thursday, September 22, at the Haller Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Gray officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 11am-1pm Thursday at Haller Funeral Home.
