Eleanor Harris

Eleanor M. Harris, 88, of Westerville, formerly of Chillicothe, died at 3:05pm January 19, 2016, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, following a brief illness. She was born March 6, 1927, in Ross County to the late Albert and Dorothy Banks Harris. On March 18, 1946, she married James G. "Simmy" Harris, who preceded her in death January 9, 2002. She is survived by her children, who adored her: Ellen Bunton and her friend Albert Kirksey, of Westerville, Carol (Lewis) Jones, of Grove City, Deborah (Michael) Patterson, of Lewis Center, Jeffrey (Theresa) Harris, Columbus; grandchildren: Frank "Trey" Bunton III, Ashley Bunton, Gregory Lee II, Darius Patterson, Brittany Harris, Danielle Harris and Catherine Harris; a sister Hazel (William) Brandon; sisters-in-law Helen Harris and JoAnn Harris; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by brothers Earl, Archie and Rev. Richard Harris; and a sister Dorothy Jean Worthy. Mrs. Harris was a graduate of Unioto High School, Class of 1945. She retired from Chillicothe City Schools. Due to her husband's illness, they moved to Columbus in 2000. She maintained her membership at Zion Baptist Church and also attended Trinity Baptist Church in Columbus. She loved to crochet and make ceramics at Gillie Community Senior Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Saturday at Zion Baptist Church with Dr. Rev. J. Troy Gray officiating, Pastor Victor M. Davis, Eulogist. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call from 11am until 1pm Saturday at Zion Baptist Church.
