Katherine Eileen Wise, 87, of Chillicothe, died at 1:10am March 27, 2025.
She was born February 26, 1938, in Ross County to the late John and Ruth (Hatfield) Gilliam. On August 4, 1957, she married Verlin Clifford Wise.
Eileen is survived by their son and daughter-in-law Steven Verlin (Rhonda) Wise, of Waterville, OH; grandchildren, Joshua (Kelly) Wise, of Swanton OH, Quinten (Kara) Wise, Monclova OH, Tyler Wise and fiancée Lisa Buffington, of Genoa OH, and Christien (Megan) Wise, Chillicothe OH, and Hunter Wise and fiancée Matthew Angerson, of Pineville NC; 8 great-grandchildren: Luke, Walker, Tristan, Carter, Grant, Elizabeth, Sasha and Jordyn; great-great-grandchildren: Valerie, Walter and Royce; sister, Ruth A (Dorman) Wooten of Chillicothe; brothers John "Vernon" Gilliam, Glenn (Cathy) Gilliam and James R. (Becky) Gilliam of Londonderry OH; Sister-in-law Geneva Gilliam; and 2 nephews Davey (Nancy) Bell and Kenny (Vickie) Bell. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Verlin Clifford Wise, infant brother Michael Wayne Gilliam and brother Delbert L. Gilliam.
Eileen graduated from Southeastern High School in 1956. Following graduation she married Verlin Wise and they spent 67 years together before his passing in 2023. She loved to square dance, travelling across the country, spending time with her grandchildren, and started baking cakes out her own home for many, many people becoming known as the "Cake Lady" throughout Chillicothe. Before she retired from baking she had the grandchildren of her early clients calling her to place orders.
A funeral service for Eileen will be held on Saturday, April 5 th , 2025 at 11:00am at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory followed by burial at Omega Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5 – 7 pm and 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Eileen's memory to the Heartland Hospice, 10220 Waterville St., Whitehouse OH 43571 419-531-0440 would be appreciated by the family.
