Edwin Scott Rose, 71, of Chillicothe, died unexpectedly at 6:21 pm, Sunday, September 20, 2020 at the Adena Regional Medical Center.
He was born September 12, 1949 in Columbus, OH. On December 18, 1971 he married E. Dawn Swink Rose, who survives. Also surviving are two children, Erica (Phillip) Detty and Chris (Aubrey) Rose, both of Chillicothe; and three grandchildren, Matthew and Megan Detty and Callen Rose.
Scott retired from the VAMC-Chillicothe as a facility construction manager and was a US Navy veteran. Scott had a lifelong love of fitness from running multiple marathons, bicycling across Iowa, to getting in his daily five mile walks. Scott was a member of USA Track & Field as well as a Master level official. Scott worked many USATF National Championships, three Olympic Trials, two World Championships and numerous NCAA National Championships. In addition to being a working official he was Chair of Awards for the National Officials Committee, web-master/publisher for the officials' newsletter published monthly. Locally he was the Ohio Association web-master. Scott also directed the officials training clinic for the Ohio Association for eight years. Nationally he was well liked and respected by his peers. When he wasn't involved in officiating, he spent his free time adoring and supporting his children and grandchildren in whatever they were involved with. He rarely missed a game, concert, or ceremony. He will be missed.
Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in Grandview Cemetery, Matt Kysor and Mark Gray officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 5455 N. High St., Columbus, OH 43214.
