Edward Kirkwood

Edward A. Kirkwood, 81, of Chillicothe, died March 16, 2016, at his residence. He was born June 17, 1934, in Indianola, NE, to the late John F. and Pearl (Heim) Kirkwood. On June 2, 1962, he married the former Patricia Ann Bennett, who preceded him in death on October 8, 2004. Ed is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Kristin (Kip) Looney, of Ray, OH; son Steven Kirkwood, Gahanna, OH; his "adopted" granddaughter Melissa Barnard, of Ray, OH; a sister Geraldine Stiles, Monroe, NC; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by 3 brothers: John, David and Kent Kirkwood. Ed was a graduate of Chillicothe High School, Class of 1952, and then served his country in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Kenworth Truck Co. in 2000. He was an active member of Chillicothe Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and sang in the Singing Christmas Tree. He was a loving, devoted husband and father. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Friday, at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory, with Pastor John Burris officiating. Military graveside services, conducted by the Ross Co Veteran Honor Guard, will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call 5-7pm Thursday at Haller's.
