Edward J. "Jim" Brunett Jr., 65, of Lucasville, formerly of Chillicothe, died 1:40 pm, Friday, October 12, 12012 at Mercy-Clermont Hospital, following a brief illness. He was born December 10, 1946 in Dayton, OH to the late Edward J. and Mary M. Garrison Brunett Sr. Survivors include his daughter, Kelly (Josh) Wise; three granddaughters, Savanna and Natalie Brunett and Sasha Wilson; a great-granddaughter, Valerie Wilson; sisters, Alma (Craig) Browder, of Dayton, Wendy (Steve) Welch, of Chillicothe, and Lee (Debbie) Shaw, of Washington CH; a brother, Tim (Joni) Brunett, of North Carolina; and several nieces; nephews; and cousins. He was preceded in death by a son, Patrick Brunett. Jim served in the US Navy and retired from the Ross Co. Sheriff's Department following 28 years of service. He began as a jailer and retired as a Major. He loved his time as a deputy, not only in law enforcement, but as a part of the extra activities such as fish fries (even though he complained later), the fair, and the rodeo. He especially enjoyed "Shop with a Cop" at Christmas. He was a member of Scioto Lodge 6 F & AM, all York Rite bodies, the Aladdin Shriners, the Ross Co. Shrine Club, Moose Lodge 2263, and American Legion Post 23. He loved playing cards, and was ruthless at it. He enjoyed travelling, reading, and drinking coffee. Masonic funeral services will be held 6:00 pm Tuesday at the Haller Funeral Home. Friends may call 4-6 pm Tuesday at Haller's. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family.
