Edna M. Raney, 100, of Chillicothe, went home to be with her Lord December 9, 2018. She was born April 12, 1918 in Ross Co. to the late Edward J. and Inez Taylor Davis. On November 28, 1936 she married Fred A. Raney, who preceded her in death after 50 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Barbara Raney and Cynthia Sopher; two sisters, Helen Harrington and Virginia Richardson; and a brother, James Davis. Survivors include siblings, Lavetta Merle Raney and Karl F. (Mary) Davis, and their son, Karl (Jackie) Davis II; a special brother-in-law, Philip S. (Norma) Raney; sisters-in-law, Rosa Raney, Dolly Davis, and Edna (John) Mitchell; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. Ms. Raney was a 1937 graduate of Chillicothe High School. At an early age Ms. Raney attended the Ebenezer Baptist Church. She was a lifelong member of Zion Baptist Church, Zion Baptist Church Loyal Club, Season Saints Ministry, a Mother of Zion Church, a member of the Ross Co. Senior Citizens for Elderly. She loved music and played more than 75 years for the Rosebud Chorus, Brotherhood Male Chorus of Zion, organist and pianist for Zion Senior Choir, and the Chillicothe Community Male Choir. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm Thursday at Grace Fellowship Church, the former Zion Baptist Church, 536 Mill St., Chillicothe, OH, Rev. Dr. J. Troy Gray officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Township Cemetery. Friends may call 10:00-12:00 Thursday at the church.
