Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather Elden "Dean" McDonald went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016. He was born in McArthur, Oh on February 1, 1924. He was born to Wayne and Henrietta Waxler McDonald. On June 27, 1953 he married the love of his life, Kathryn Brown Hill McDonald who preceded him in death just four days after their 60th wedding anniversary. He is also preceded in death by brothers Clarence "Frank" McDonald, Kay McDonald, Glenn McDonald; sisters Mary Geiger, Lucille Kohn, Ruth Cash, and Ada McDonald. He is survived by a daughter, Miriam L. and Martin H. Baker; son, Douglas V. Hill; six grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Elden retired from Mead Paper Co. where he worked on roll finishing. He was a longtime member of High St. Church of Christ in Christian Union where he was a member of the Sunday School and served as Church Board Member, President of the Missions Board and member of Mission Minded Men's group. He faithfully served his Lord through his church. He loved gardening, leather work, wood carving and at one time, hunting and fishing. More than anything else on this earth he loved his family and his sweet spirit was loved and respected by all who knew him. In his final days and hours he was surrounded and cared for by his family and the caring medical staff of Adena ICU and the Adena Hospice Team. A celebration of Elden's life will be held at Haller Funeral Home on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 11:00 am conducted by his pastor Rev. Bruce Viar. Burial will follow in Twin Township Cemetery, Bourneville. Friends and family may call Friday from 5 to 8 pm at Hallers.
