E. Ruth Drummond, 86, of Londonderry, formerly of Akron, died 7:03 pm, Wednesday, June 24, 2009 in the Adena Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness. She was born October 22, 1922 in Orrville, OH to Harley R. and Jessie N. Biggs Glasdell. In 1941 she married Melvin A. Drummond, who died in 1976. Survivors include a daughter, Marsha A. Malenock, of Medina; three sons, Russell L. (Beverly) Drummond, of Londonderry, Joseph A. (Pamela) Drummond, of Plainfield, IL, and Brian S. (Tina) Drummond, of Dallas, GA; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Geraldine (Edd) Carson, of Cincinnati and Nadine Harrison, of Bradenton, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband; 2 grandchildren, Stephen R. and Tara Drummond; 2 brothers and a sister. Mrs. Drummond was a former member of the First Brethren Church, Ellett, OH and attended Springfield Township High School. She was a S.T.A.R.S. volunteer with the Ohio Reads Program, at Londonderry School. Private graveside services will be held in the Hillside Memorial Park, Akron, OH, at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Liberty Twp. Fire and Rescue or any youth program of the Adena Health Foundation, 272 Hospital Rd.
