Duena Ames

Duena R. (Kellhofer) Ames, 93, of Columbus, formerly of Chillicothe, died at 3:10pm Monday, February 8, 2010, at First Community Village, Columbus. She was born December 7, 1916, in Chillicothe, to the late Leo M. and Ada G. Lawhorn Kellhofer. On July 4, 1946, she married Joseph E. Ames, who preceded her in death on February 23, 1999. Surviving are her grandchildren Michael Ames, of Columbus; and Jennifer Ames, of Dublin; her sister Julia A. Allen, Chillicothe; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son, Jeffrey C. Ames; and sisters Geraldine Harker and Elizabeth J. Trainer. Mrs. Ames was a Registered Nurse, retiring in 1978. She served her country as a Nurse in the US Army during World War II. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Friday, February 12, in the Haller Funeral Home with Fr. Rick Terry officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from Noon until 1pm Friday at Haller Funeral Home.
