Douglas Ogden

December 24, 1927 — June 11, 2018

Douglas "Doug" Ogden, Jr., 90, of Chillicothe, died 6:38 am, June 11, 2018, at his residence, following an extended illness.   He was born December 24, 1927 in Chillicothe to the late Douglas and Mary Pearl Everetts Ogden.  Survivors include three children, Linda Marie Holdren, of Chillicothe, Marian Kay (Kevin) Coy, of Palm Harbor, FL, and Steven Douglas (Paula) Odgen; three grandchildren, Wesley (Leda) Holdren, Amy (Michael) Karamihalis, and Caleigh (Justin) McNerney; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Emma Oney, of Waverly, and Gloria Eberle, of Michigan; and a brother, Carl Ogden, of Urbana.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Clark.    Doug was a 1946 graduate of Chillicothe High School and served in the US Navy.  He was a retired sales manager with McAllister Chevrolet.  He was a member of the United Commercial Travelers for over 66 years, and a Golden Eagle Member of the Eagles Aerie 600.  In his early years, Doug played baseball for several teams in the Chillicothe and Ross Co. area.  He was also a stockcar enthusiast, owning and racing his own car throughout the Midwest, as an original member of Chillicothe Stock Racing Association, a founding stock holder of the Atomic Speedway, and enjoyed following NASCAR.   Military graveside services, conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard, will be held 1:30 pm, Monday, July 2, 2018 in Grandview Cemetery.  Calling hours will not be observed.  Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice.  The family thanks them for the excellent care given Doug.
