Douglas K. Gabriel, 78, of Chillicothe, died unexpectedly at 7:21am February 6, 2026, in Adena Regional Medical Center.
He was born October 19, 1947, in Chillicothe, to the late Floyd D. and Ruth E. (Walker) Gabriel. On June 29, 1969, he married his beloved wife, Juanita K. (Bethel) Gabriel, sharing over 55 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Christine Gabriel Dixon (Scott), son Douglas K. Gabriel II (Amber Knisley); 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; Sister Cheryl L Gabriel-Russell; several nieces and nephews; special close friends; and his Australian Shepherd “Bella Bonita”.
Doug was a graduate of Chillicothe High School, Class of 1966. He then served his country in the US Marine Corps during Vietnam and retired from Army National Guard Company A, 216th Engineer Battalion. He retired from Mead Paper Co. where he worked as an electrician. He was a former member of the Eagles, Aerie 600, Scioto Lodge No. 6 F & AM, and the AmVets, Post 4. He was a member of First Capital Christian Church where he was a Deacon and Trustee.
His funeral service will be held on Friday, February 13th , 2026 at 2:00 PM officiated by Minister Terry Holbert. Military graveside services, conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard, will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, 643 Eastern Ave Chillicothe. The family will receive friends Friday, February 13th , 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM for viewing at Haller Funeral Home 1661 Western Ave., Chillicothe.
