Dot Elizabeth Bennett, 80, of Chillicothe, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at 10:58am at the Adena Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness.
She was born June 25, 1944, in Stone Coal, West Virginia, daughter of the late Rubin and Vinnie Copley. On January 20, 1978, she married her beloved husband, George Everett Bennett, and together they shared 30 years of marriage before his passing on January 27, 2018.
Surviving are her four children, David L. Leach, Douglas L. Leach, Lisa Culbertson, and Kathryn Suarez; five beloved grandchildren, Kayla Leach, Deborah Leach, Austin Leach, Ethan Lane, and Brandon Leach; eight great-grandchildren, Liddeah, Gabby, Riley, Gary, Eli, Domri, Chloe, and Aralynn; three siblings, David Copley, Shirley Ann Murray, and James Copley; her niece, Stephanie Rinehart; her best friend, Joyce Doreen James-Danner; as well as many other extended family members and friends.
Dottie was a graduate of Chillicothe High School, class of 1962. She was a former EMT with Union Scioto and volunteered at Adena Regional Medical Center for many years in her free time. Her family and friends will forever remember her love of bowling, where she served on the state 700 club and board, the district 600 board, state board, and local board for bowling. She also spent time serving as the secretary and treasurer for two bowling leagues.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no public calling hours or funeral service. A Celebration of Life is being planned at the Shawnee Lanes Bowling Alley in the coming days, and will be announced at a future date.
